On the third day of Jakarta Fashion Week 2017, I attended a fashion show presented by Indonesian Fashion Chamber (IFC). IFC selected six young designers from Indonesia. Each of the designers presented a unique character with a variety of themes.
Astri Lestari presented “KNOT”, a mixture of Asian traditional clothes in design, made from batik and other local fabric in bright colours. The hairpieces gave a more playful look for the whole collection.
Mudrika Paradise presented a modest wear made from traditional fabric as well. It combined white colored fabric with batik in the collection. A lot of layering, mixing hats and inner scarves are shown in the “Conver ble”.
The one that really caught my eyes was Savlavin. The collection pictured an effortlessly cool and casual pieces. The accessories were very modern and simple. However there was also traditional Flores woven fabric included in the design. The collection was named “Tacenda”.
Devy Ros showed “Scut a Luz”, a range of lady like yet sensual and strong pieces made from lace, tulle, satin fabric in neutral colors – black, white, and nude. A combination of biker jacket was also shown in some of the looks.
Khanaan showed “Anatolia”, a collection inspired by Ottoman Turkish architecture and arts. Loose silhouettes, flowy materials and gold embellishment being used made the whole collection looked royal and lady like.
The last one was Elizabeth Njo May Fen. It showed several pieces of blue green colored clothes with unpredictable wavy cutting, picturing brain waves as the collection was named “Mind Games”. Traditional fabric in modern designs with zipper as accessories and for functionality, one of the look showed a skirt can be turned into a jacket.
